本書はインド、ラーンプルのラザー図書館所蔵のラシード・アッディーン『集史』写本を中心に、モンゴルがイランを支配していた13〜14世紀イルハーン朝時代のペルシア語普遍史がどのように編纂され、その情報が伝えられていったかを研究した論文集です。これまで日本で蓄積されてきた『集史』研究に立脚し、最先端の『集史』研究へと展開したもので、国際的にあまり知られてこなかった日本での研究を紹介することも目的としています。
