Abstract :
As is well known, the Bhikṣuṇī Prātimokṣa and Bhikṣuṇī Vibhaṅga preserved in Tibetan do not match. That is to say, the Tibetan Bhikṣuṇī Prātimokṣa and Vibhaṅga provide evidence for the existence of two traditions of rules for nuns. I n this paper I examine a third tradition, hitherto known only from a commentary preserved in Tibetan under the title *Ārya- sarvāstivādi-mūla-bhikṣuṇī-prātimokṣa-sūtra-vṛtti, but now found in two Tibetan Bhikṣuṇī Prātimokṣa manuscrip ts from Dunhuang preserved in the Pelliot collection.
