研究テーマ：現代におけるイスラームの理解と実践。最近はハラール産業や仏のブルキニ問題を事例に、さまざまな社会での「イスラーム」をめぐる分断の傾向について研究を行っています。

Research Theme: Understanding and Practice of Islam in the Contemporary World. Her recent interest is on the trend of division between “Muslims” and “Non-Muslims” which have been observed in various societies. In her view “halal industries” and “Burkini -debates” are examples of the trend.

Teachings of Islam (Kamogawa Shoten, 2017, in Japanese)	『神のためにまとうヴェール』 エジプトでしばしば耳にした、「神のために何かをする」という表現。その背後に、馴染み深い論理や感情があることが見えてきます。 Veils for God: Women and Islam in Contemporary Egypt (Chuokoron-shinsha 2014, in Japanese) It discusses how the dissemination of religious discourses together brought the increase of the veiled population among women in contemporary Egypt.
