Returning to Hometowns Affected by the Nuclear Disaster and it’s Reality: Results of Analyzing Living Organizations

【Abstract】

This report addresses Kawauchi village as a case of the village where the residents returned to their hometown in the first place among the areas affected by the nuclear crisis. Through the interview with the residents, we aim to reveal the reasons why the residents have made the decision to return to Kawauchi village despite there is a huge risk of health effects from radiation exposure and contamination. This report will point out the current situation and the assignments for Kawauchi village, a model of post-disaster reconstruction.
