Report: Xu Qingyong geve a lecture on the hitorical origin of people’s mediation of People’s Republic of China and on preceding studies on the people’d mediation.People’s Mediation has two lines of historical origins as mediation. One belongs to public authorititative model and the other does to non public authoritative model. AS for the preceding studies on the people’s mediation , they can be devided into three patterns, interpretation by the concepts of traditional culture,interpretation by functional analysis and interpretation by the concepts of the arts for realising rights.
Issues raised during the Question and Answe period includes:

1. How to define mediation and people’s mediation;
2. Neccessity to study mediation or conciliation system pf the Republican China;
3. How to divide or describe the hitory of people’s mediation in the PRC.
