Introduction and Spread of Islam in Southeast Asia

【要旨 / Abstract】
マレー半島や島嶼部において、イスラームは平和的に、そして徐々に受容された。その際重要だったのが、イスラームの名のもとに知識の獲得や正しい行いの重要性が説かれたことであり、また、商業的な要因であった。本報告では東南アジアにおけるイスラームの伝播と受容の過程に着目し、そこにみられる変化や、時に起こった宗教理解をめぐるムスリム同士の衝突、20世紀初頭におけるマレー人のあいだでの改革運動やアラブ知識人の影響等について検討する。
Area of Southeast Asia includes diverse and different nations, peoples and ethnic group, for example, Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Siam or Thailand, the Malay Peninsula or West Malaysia, the Malay Archipelago, which includes Singapore and Indonesia, then there is the far East (Japan and China).
Here the focus will be on regions where the Islamic presence and existence of Muslims is overshadowing the whole zone.
The basic premise that relations between Arabs and between the inhabitants of those areas was so early probably since the advent of Islam.
There is also a significant impact to the Arabs Hadhrami coming of the Kingdom of Hemiarr in Yemen in the Arabian Peninsula and its environs.
There have been natural geographical and political factors that led to the Arab migrations to Southeast Asia.
There were also the effect -in the transmission of Islam – via the local’s people or by the Indian merchants and other residents.
Islam has spread in the Malay Archipelago and other Malay areas and islands gradually and peacefully based on a call for wisdom and good advice and the most important factor here was the commercial factor.
This seminar discusses the changes in the Islamic experience and the spread of Islam and even the Muslim-Muslim conflict about religious issues, and religious reform movement between the Malays and the role of the Arab’s element in context of the ideas of Muhammad Rashid Rida and reforming of Ahmed Al-sorkatti.
The nature of the problems of the modernization the traditional Islamic thought in those areas. The focusing will be on the Arab and Islamic literature sources for these topics.
