グローバルな高等教育の 潮流に関する日本の対応
Japanese responses to global higher education trends

【要旨 / Abstract】
世界的に高等教育機関は大きな改革の時期にあります。グローバル大学ランキングや国際的競争が各国の政策のプライオリティになりました。日本の高等改革の政策にも同じ傾向がみられます。日本の政府や文科省は様々な競争的資金で日本の大学の改革を進められるようになりました。私の研究はそのような大学改革に注目して、国際化、ガバナンス改革や教育改革を分析しています。今回の発表では、具体的に大学の改革を大きな枠組みから見て、なぜ国際化が重要になったのか、競争的資金がどのように大学改革を推し進めるのか、といった質問に対する答えを探ります。

Higher education institutions across the world are undergoing reforms in order to answer to the changing societal needs and global pressures. Making universities globally competitive and improving the standing in global rankings has shifted to the priorities in many countries. Japan is no exception – with a series of competitive funding programs the government tries to enhance the global visibility of Japanese universities and initiate general university reform. My research focuses on reforms at Japanese national universities – internationalization, governance and education – triggered by markets and competition. Why is internationalization becoming a central theme in higher education and how are competitive funding programs changing the university as an organization? There are the main questions I attempt to address during my presentation.
