Mehmet Genc, a specialist in the economic history of the Ottoman Empire who is in Japan on the invitation of
Yamagata University will hold a seminar in Tokyo sponsored by Research Unit 5. Professor Genc is a professor of
Marmara University and has conducted research for many years in the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul on Ottoman
socio-economic history. He is one of the most eminent researchers on the subject. We hope to have many participants in this seminar.
