(On what outcomes the Prime Minister expects from his visit to the Republic of the Philippines and Malaysia and what message he plans to send out in his policy speech to the Congress of the Philippines)

I am now leaving to visit the Philippines and Malaysia. I will exchange views with the leaders of these two countries, which are Japan's important strategic partners, on a wide range of issues including bilateral relations and the regional and international situation, with the hope to promote a trusting relationship and strengthen Japan's relations with the two countries.

With the leaders of the two countries in particular, I would like to confirm our collaboration toward realizing, through a free and open international order based on the rule of law, a world that respects human dignity, as well as toward the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-Japan Friendship and Cooperation in December.

As you have mentioned, I will be the first Prime Minister of Japan to deliver a policy speech to the Congress of the Philippines and will take this occasion to convey Japan's basic policy on next-generation diplomacy towards Southeast Asia, and to send out a clear message on the future of Japan-Philippines and Japan-ASEAN relations to the region and to the international community.
