Today, on October 2, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe announced the results of the Investigation Team to North Korea. Taking into account requests of the families of the abducted Japanese nationals, the Government of Japan needs to tackle the cases at all costs for the reunion of the five abductees alive with their families, their return to Japan, and for the collection of more specific information about the abducted nationals whom North Korea reported dead. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs intends to do its utmost to resolve this issue, which includes urging the North Korean side to make a further probe into the cases.
