The Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the Parties") are convinced of the desirability of further strengthening the cooperation and technical exchange in the field of rivers and water resources on the basis of equality and mutual benefit and in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the People's Republic of China" ("the Agreement") done on September 30, 1992.

Have agreed as follows.

Article l

The Parties shall encourage and promote mutual cooperation in the field of rivers and water resources through:

(a)Meeting for exchange of opinion and information;

(b)Exchange of researchers, technical personnel, and experts;

(c)Joint research on subjects of mutual interests;

(d)Any other forms of cooperation as may be mutually agreed upon.

Article 2

1.The parties may, if necessary, hold consultative meetings at the working level during the sessions of the Joint Committee under the Agreement or on the dates to be agreed upon between the Parties in accordance with the procedures set forth in the relevant laws and regulations of each country.

2.Agenda of the meeting shall be determined by the mutual agreement of the Parties.

Article 3

l.The Parties will make every effort to promote visits of technical personnel and experts to each other.

2.Each Party, except where otherwise agreed, shall bear its own expenses arising from the exchanges of personnel in accordance with relevant laws and regulations of each country.

Article 4

l.This Arrangement shall enter into force from the date of signature and shall be in force for 5 years in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Article 8 of the Agreement.

2.This Arrangement may be revised by mutual consent of the Parties at the request of either Party.

Done in duplicate at on the of in the Korean, Chinese and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of any divergence of interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
