Abstract:
 アヘン戦争後に中国の門戸が開かれ、西洋人の中国語学習は比較的自由になっていったが、それ以前は、かなりの制限がある環境のもとで、中国語を学ばなければなら なかった。本報告では、アヘン戦争以前、イギリスはどのような機関で中国語教育を行ったのかを踏まえた上で、マラッカにおけるアングロ・チャイニーズ・カレッジの設立 および存立理由を中心に考察する。
