Substance:
People\’s mediation plays an irreplaceable role in Chinese dispute resolution. The word of “people” adds political overtones with Chinese characteristic to the mediation. Many scholars have different interpretation . In this seminar, the origin will be discussed from the points of views of tradition and modern on the basis of historical materials, documents and related studies. There are many studies about people\’s mediation in the academia. I roughly divide them into three theoretical research paths, the first one is social function analysis path; the second is cultural interpretation path; the last one is technical analysis path.
