- Summary: The Economic Growth model, which became widely accepted as the orthodox development policy after the Second World War, could not adequately address poverty around the world. As a result, alternative development policies that focused directly on human well-being were introduced, one of which is the Human Development approach in the 1990s. In this presentation, I will clarify how this approach has become a prevalent alternative model, and discuss objective happiness indicators as a challenge to be subsequently addressed.
