Summary:   Since the 1970s, the number of Muslim women who wear veils of some kind has increased in various parts of the world. Although the enforcement of veiling by political authorities or patriarchic customs was criticized, voluntary veiling by educated and/or socially established women has attracted the attentions of researchers. But why did they choose to wear veils? This presentation aims to provide a backdrop for the phenomenon by considering dream narratives by Egyptian artists who decided to adopt veils in their professions.
